Long Time No See: The Podcast always brings out some crazy stories, but this week’s guest may have some of the wildest yet. Comedians Sydney Castillo (VH1’s Celebrity Squares, Wild N’ Out) and Jade Catta-Preta (Hulu’s Hotties, E!’s The Soup) talk celebrity encounters, being stiffed by comedy clubs, and what not to buy with $1 million. Watch the funny unfold above or listen wherever you get your podcasts.
At different points, both comics talk about performing comedy for celebrities – but in different ways. Catta-Preta recalls a time her celeb crush, Dua Lipa, was at her set. “There’s these two girls and they’re laughing way too hard at my jokes,” she recalls. “And I go to make fun of them and it’s fucking Dua Lipa, in the same outfit that I was just looking at her in [on Instagram]. “Then I just waited outside for when she left to like go to the bathroom to be like, ‘Congrats on your Grammys!’ That’s what I said to her! Of all the things. And then she was like, ‘Oh yeah, you’re really funny.’ And I was like, ‘Can I give you my sticker?’ Oh my God, it was so fucking embarrassing.”
Castillo’s celeb story is very different: he was performing at a nightclub ahead of a Chris Brown concert, and the celebrity-filled audience was so not into it they were thoroughly booed him. “They all booed me. They owed me $500. They didn’t wanna pay me. It was like, ‘Ah, we don’t think you deserve your money,'” he says. “I was like, ‘Somebody has to pay me.’ And security was like, ‘I need you to leave or I’m gonna have to knock you out.’ I was like, ‘I totally understand, but I need the money when I wake up.'”
Then, just wait to you hear Catta-Preta’s reaction when Castillo says he still wouldn’t buy sushi even if he had $1 million. “Because if you don’t like sushi, there’s other things you might not like as much,” she questions. But Castillo reassures her: “See, that’s the thing, I love that! But I’m just licking that… I’m not putting ginger with it.”
