Luca Guadagnino’s imaginative 2024 film Queer succeeds on many measures: Justin Kuritzkes’ adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ novella has its fair share of poignant and funny moments, and the performances of leading men Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey are terrific. But the film’s beating heart is its score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, whose work was so impactful that it led to Consequence naming them our 2024 Composers of the Year. Now, you can bring home the Nine Inch Nails members’ stunning score with the brand new release coming on December 12th — and we’re giving away one copy signed by Reznor and Ross themselves.
Yes, we’re giving away one (1) grand prize of the new Queer score vinyl signed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. We also have two (2) regular copies for two runners-up.
The film served as Reznor and Ross’ third collaboration with Guadagnino, having previously crafted the scores for the films Bones and All and Challengers. “Our north star in terms of storytelling, and probably what we’re best at, is in tapping into the emotional heart of the story,” said Ross in our Composers of the Year interview. “And I think in Queer, it’s a very complex one. This just took a little longer to get into understanding the complexity of these two guys’ relationship.” He continued, revealing that “on this one, we were embracing the idea of a non-traditional, fairly experimental score of some sort, [because] the movie is kind of almost several movies.”
It may have taken a few “moments of despair” for Reznor and Ross to get it right, but the score for Queer is one of their most gorgeous creations yet. For the first time, you can bring it home in a stunning vinyl presentation. Pressed on translucent cobalt blue 180-gram vinyl, the vinyl is packaged in printed inner sleeves and a gatefold jacket designed with Burroughs’ signature-cut up technique in mind. The collage artwork features previously unreleased behind the scenes photos, an handwritten excerpt from Burrough’s actual final diary entry, and other references to the film.
