John Corabi has announced his first solo album of original material, New Day, arriving April 24th via Frontiers Music Srl.
The former Mötley Crüe singer also unveiled the music video for the lead single, the LP’s title track. The bouncy four-minute tune is a fine showcase of Corabi’s grizzled-yet-melodic voice and combines a hard rock sound with retro psych-rock influences.
“‘New Day’ is a positive, upbeat song with a message of enjoy life!!!” declared Corabi in a press release. “Stop whining and complaining about how unfair life is, and enjoy the ‘little beautiful things, life offers’ and make the changes you need to make your life better!!! Change happens WITHIN…”
While Corabi has a couple releases to his name (a covers album and acoustic/unplugged collection), New Day is his first full-length solo studio effort consisting of original music. It was recorded in Nashville this past summer with producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Buckcherry), who provided various instrumental work in addition to performances by Evan Frederiksen on drums, bass, B3 organ, electric guitar, mandolin, and programming; Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses) on lead guitar; Paul Taylor (Winger, Steve Perry) on piano, organ, and clavinet; plus Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke) providing guitar solos.
“I’m very excited for everybody to hear this new collection of songs!” Corabi said. “I wanted to put together an album of eclectic, organic songs that are reminiscent of the music I grew up listening to, and I truly believe the mission was accomplished! This is a ’60s-’70s sounding classic rock and roll record…Turn it up, and enjoy!!!”
Previously released singles “Così Bella (So Beautiful)” (2021) and “Your Own Worst Enemy” (2022) are included on the 12-song tracklist, which can be seen below along with the video for “New Day” and the LP artwork. Pre-order the album via Frontiers Music.
Corabi replaced Vince Neil as the singer of Mötley Crüe from 1992 to 1996. He also is the current lead singer of the supergroup The Dead Daisies.
